Bruce and Melanie Krug, Owners

 Bruce has been training hunting dogs for 40 years and has bred several National Field Champions.  He brings each dog to its fullest potential through proper conditioning, proven training techniques and extensive exposure to birds.  Bruce teaches commands using repetition until the dog understands; then introduces low-level e-collar stimulation to reinforce correct behavior.  Owners are proud of the confidence, intensity and state their dogs exhibit as a result of Bruce's training. He has completed several AKC Obedience Titles, winning with top scores, and has handled dogs in field trial competition, hunt tests, open field coursing and AKC Bench shows.

Each year Bruce spends training time with top professionals in the Pointing Dog and Retriever worlds.  Powder River Gun Dogs knows it is imperative that the owner understands how to carry on with the training process.  All training programs conclude with a one hour training session in the field with Bruce, Owner and Dog.  An evaluation and a continuation plan are sent home with the owner as well.

Melanie brings her show ring expertise to the breeding program, focusing on producing a hunting dog that not only performs but meets the breed confirmation standard.  She has successfully shown many breeds completing their bench championships with Group Placements.  She has also competed successfully with Sighthounds in Open Field and Lure Coursing, winning a National Championship.  Her eye for confirmation and skill for conditioning is reflected in the beautiful, bright puppies produced by Powder River Gun Dogs.
